Earnings reports from Amazon.com and Apple were a shot in the arm for the stock market on Friday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 62 points, or 0.1%. The S&P 500 was up 0.6%. The Nasdaq Composite was up 1.

Farley was speaking at his company’s Ford Pro Accelerate event in Detroit on Tuesday morning. Improving the “essential economy” would be good for Ford, since it sells a lot of trucks to small businesses. Ford’s commercial division, called “Ford Pro,” reported second-quarter operating profit of $2.3 billion.

CRH stock was up 4.3% in early trading at $119.55, while the was down 0.2% and the was flat. The move came after CRH set out its new five-year targets at an investor day in New York.
